31 Jan Our Evolution – Building Our Future
As we embark on the biggest redevelopment in the RSL’s 70 year history, we are proud to be building our future from the ground up, connecting the community with exciting new spaces and endless new experiences.
We are positive about the possibilities and the journey to date has already seen striking transformations to our façade.
As we continue to evolve and build our future, we were thrilled to be able to treat a selection of students from Dee Why Kindergarten’s starfish class to a behind-the-scenes construction site visit in December 2018. Donning high-vis ‘Dee Why Kindergarten’ vests and canary yellow hard hats, the students displayed a keen interest in the construction site and were made to feel like part of the Hutchinson Builders team.
Introducing the latest tiny-tot construction team members to an array of excavation equipment, earthmoving vehicles and cranes over 20m tall was met with an ephemeral childish happiness that became a topic of conversation with the students and their parents.
In addition to the construction site visit, the graduating Kindergarten class visited the residents at Oceangrove as part of their end of year performance where they performed ‘We Wish you a Merry Christmas’ and ‘Jingle Bells’ accompanied with choreographed dance movements. After months’ worth of rehearsing, the students pulled off a spectacular performance that left our residents in raptures!
With the hopes of this becoming a regular visit, the students made Christmas cards for the residents, while the residents read stories to the children. Oceangrove concierge Karen Nel described the Kindergarten’s visit as, “spectacular… The residents just loved having the Kindergarten come over. It was really a very precious moment for the kids and the residents, and we all had such a lovely morning.”
Thank you to Dee Why Kindergarten, Hutchinson Builders and Oceangrove for joining our exciting evolution and being part of building our future through fostering invaluable connections within our community.
